ARCHIVAL PRINTING

I print using Canon pigment-based inks on highest quality archival papers with expected fade resistance of over 200 years when framed under UV resistant glass or with UV protective laminate. These prints are heirloom quality that you can leave your grandchildren a living memory of the world as it is today. These images are printed from large format film that has been scanned or high resolution digital capture. The resulting file sizes can be printed exceptionally large, in most cases up to six feet on long edge, or larger. In fact, file size in many cases exceeds the practical limit for printing and framing. I currently can print up to 44 -inches wide up to ten feet in length if you need a mural. Yes, that’s a nightmare to produce

Direct sunlight is the enemy of light- fastness. Witness the severe fading of posters in a store front or display receiving direct sunlight. UV protective glass or laminate mitigates these effects, but for best permanence avoid displaying in direct light.

Tier-one prints are signed, numbered, limited edition prints of either 25 or 50 copies. The edition is limited regardless of the chosen size meaning only a limited number will exist in the aggregate. Tier-one images are either scenes that no longer exist, were captured in exceptionally rare conditions, or have been placed previously numbered in a limited edition series. Tier-two prints are signed but not numbered; open-edition prints are not limited in production.

I print to order and lead times vary. If I am not on travel, then usually only 2-3 of days are needed to print and ship. The print will be shipped rolled in protective mailing tube and can be taken to your preferred gallery for framing. Do not handle without gloves to avoid fingerprints on the image. The gallery staff should know how to mount an inkjet print, but may be reluctant if your print is a signed, numbered, limited edition image. Notify me if that is the case.  If the print is to be delivered mounted and/or framed, then delivery times will depend on the company, which is currently Duraplaq. Their web site is quite informative. My standard is the slim mount (1/8 inch) which is lightweight and frames nicely. I am happy to discuss other options. All mounting and framing is offered at pass-through pricing (including shipping) based on my actual costs.
