I have been photographing for over 50 years, the past 28 years in escalating free-lance fashion. My photography has been heavily weighted to the Smokies and Blue Ridge Parkway since moving to Knoxville in 1986. Starting with calendar and magazine submission, I progressed to self-publishing and released the Smoky Mountains Photographer’s Guide (with Bill Campbell) in 2003. Since that time more books and three calendars followed:

• Blue Ridge Parkway Celebration (a 214-page large format book)

• The Greater Smoky Mountains Photographer’s Guide

• Best of the Blue Ridge Parkway

• Tennessee Wonder and Light

• Blue Ridge Parkway, An Extraordinary Journey Among the World’s Oldest Mountains (with Jerry Greer)

• Great Smoky Mountains Wonder and Light (with Jerry Greer and Bill Lea)

• the Ultimate Guide to Digital Nature Photography – contributing photographer / writer.

I am now offering photographic field workshops in the Smokies, Blue Ridge Parkway and beyond, as well as Photoshop instruction. My emphasis in my workshops is helping you develop your sense of  “photographic vision” — composition and the use of light, as well as how to make great images in adverse conditions. The social aspects of a workshop cannot be overstated – it’s a fun learning experience with like minded people.

Private tours and instruction available on request.

See you out there!
